The Mechanical Engineering branch at Government Polytechnic Kangra (H.P.) came into existence in the year 2004.This is the broadest and oldest field of engineering that deals with construction, design and usage of machines. The aim of department is to impart knowledge and educate students in the area of Mechanical Engineering that will meet the needs of industries and academics with changing technology scenario. The ever changing global industrial demands and social requirements.
The Mechanical Engineering is an evergreen and ever flourishing field, because demand of mechanical engineer is in every industry starting from the home appliance industries to space organization, automobile industry to railways, shipping industry, private industries as well as public sector companies.
Our primary goal for students is to train future engineers with high quality engineering education and to disseminate knowledge and technologies through quality teaching and well established laboratories, workshops besides knowledgeable, experienced and dedicated faculty and staff. Students are exposed to industrial environment through industrial visits and industrial training / internships. Also various activities are organized to develop soft skills of the students such as seminars and Expert lectures, Guest lecturers etc.
It is heartening to note that the students passing out of our department are successfully placed in various industries as well as pursuing higher technical studies and bringing good name to the institute.
